Iceland’s Marine and Freshwater Research Institute has released its advice for the 2025/26 quota season.
The institute’s scientists recommend a 4% reduction in the cod quota from the current 24/26 season. The reason is lower measured biomass than in the previous years. This will mean the lowest cod quota since 2013 in Iceland.
The initial starting quota for capelin has been set at 46.000 mt but it will be revised before the season begins based on the autumn survey.
