There are still no new landings of Capelin in Iceland with the vessels going out for blue whiting and herring.
The capelin quota for 2022 still stands at 218.000 of which the Icelandic vessels are allocated a total of 140.000 MT. With the limited quota, the Icelandic fishing companies will not start the fishing until the Capelin Roe maturity peaks in order to get the most value out of the season. New evaluations which may increase the quota are expected at the end January.
