Icelandic MFRI just announced the capelin quota for 2026.
The decision to allow catches of 197.464mt is a considerable increase from the starting quota issued in September of just about 42.000 mt.
The announcement comes at a good time. Markets for whole round capelin are empty and there are no unsold stocks of capelin roe available.
