The Icelandic Marine and Freshwater Research Institute published an announcement about the upcoming Capelin Season on their webpage:

The expedition went quite well although ice prevented the search in the northern part of the search area. Echo sounding is used to measure the capelin and estimate its stocks. The research ships are now on their way to port and the data of the expedition is being processed. Only about 64.000 MT of spawning stock was measured, which is less than from the September excursion on which the current quota suggestion is based on.
So it is clear that the data from this excursion will not change the previous fishing advisory of zero quota for 2023/24 season.
A final exursion is planned in January/February which will provide final advice for the 2023/2024 capelin fishing. But so far the findings are discouraging.
